The CUSAW Qualifier this weekend in Highlands Ranch at Thunder Ridge High School promises to bring big numbers and great competition. In general the Qualifier events tend to get the biggest numbers, and with this one being the last Qualifier prior to the State tournament, the trend speaks for itself. Last year this tournament had more participants than even the State tournament.
This is also the last event prior to Memorial Day weekend break in the schedule. Thunder Ridge HS offers a great venue for the expected size of competition as well. With as many as 8 mats laid out, it’s one of only a few High Schools in the state that will easily suffice the expected competition numbers. CUSAW’s Events Director Troy Rutz said he was excited as this tournament had even larger numbers than the State tournament last year, and noted that that was across all of the different age divisions.
No doubt, this is one of the tournaments to have on your team’s schedule, and to ensure your wrestlers are making the most out of the local in-State tournaments if there’s a plan for your wrestler to compete on one of the National teams, either Schoolboys, Women’s, Cadet, or Juniors for the National Team Duals or National Tournaments just around the corner.
